I've worked in teams run by women, on teams with a preponderance of women, under departmental heads who were female, and the idea that there was a different dress code is laughable. The one company I experienced with the outdated attitudes you describe was Rank Xerox, under an all-American management and with a cut-throat policy of promoting "winners", where I put in six months and looked on in horror.

Perhaps Australia is just fifty years behind the more civilized times we enjoy in Europe.

The woman is either good at her job or she isn't, nothing to with her clothes, fashion sense or the size of her breasts. It is sad that big boobs are such an distraction for men and says more about him than anyone else. Some men can't seem to help themselves, as a big boobed woman I am sick of men talking to my chest and not my face, it still happens a lot now and over my life time I have spent periods of time covered up because of others reactions to something I have no control over. Now I'm older if I find a man staring I will generally point out they are being rude or ask why do they think that its ok to stare? Maybe men should all wear tight pants so we women can all have a good look and decide based on the size of their dick if they're good at their job or not.

I did spend my work life having to assert the fact I could answer questions though, my customers would look past me to shout questions at the male boss sat at his desk, I would step right in front of their gaze and answer the question all the while knowing my boss would be laughing and hiding behind a piece of paper. It was generally the older guys the youngers ones weren't so disrespectful. The older guys also couldn't cope with me slinging a 25kg bag over my shoulder carrying it out to their car and dropping it in their boot either.
