Today is Canada Day, so we have a holiday to!
going to see some fireworks tonight and still planning for the rest of the weekend.

It is Independence Day for the U.S.. We declared Independence from them nasty Brits July 4th 1776.

Really, the country was not truly born until March 4, 1789, when after the constitution was ratified, the new government was inaugurated.
However, nobody brought fireworks that day.
So we like to celebrate the Declaration, rather than the inauguration.
Of course the Declaration of Independence really was the gutsier of the two actions. Had the colonies failed in the endeavor, the Fourth of July would be just another day in the Empire, and the inauguration would have never happened.

As for what I am doing for the occasion, I am watering down the property, to make sure no stray rockets set my house afire.

My fiance's family has a BBQ / Family Reunion for the 4th every year. We'll be going to that tomorrow. Hopefully I'll also get to watch some fireworks somewhere! Hope you have a fun weekend!

I am going to our annual family pot-luck/reunion. Will be making a zucchini chicken casserole and a slaw/apple salad. Always goooood eats.:-6 Hope the rest of you Americans have a nice fourth of July regardlesss where you are.
