Learned of it on tonight's PBS Newshour. This may be the answer (at least for now) to what every frustrated American voter has been asking for. We'll see if they'll actually recognize the opportunity and seize on it.

You folks need to try something. As a long-time observer of the American scene, I'm genuinely alarmed at how divisive your people and system have become.

This looks promising at first sight. I'm probably in, but I'll likely also introduce it to my Government class that I'm teaching this year.

Petitions are circulating in all fifty states (and of course, the Federal Election Counsel is making it as difficult as possible) so keep an eye out so the nominee gets on your state's ballot. Below is a link to the segment from yesterday's NewsHour. The transcript is there too.
