There's a wee, old man who lives across the street from me. His name is Angelo.

He's 99 years old and cannot understand why he's still alive. All he wants to do is die and be done with it.

At least 3x a month an ambulance arrives at his little hovel to admin to his ails. It's so sad to watch him die, but I see him failing every day. We're all going to be so sad when that day happens.

But, he has a great sense of humor even though he doesn't realize it. He came over, banging on my door and yelling ....'anybody home, anybody home!!' The whole neighborhood was listening to him...for fear of his demise.

Jaysus, I thought he wanted me to drive him to hospital. He whispers to me, "Kathy Ellen, could you lend me some money, and I promise to pay it back 1st thing in the morn. I said of course..how much....Well he says, I need $5. I said that I could give him more than that. He said, ah well then...I could use $15 and that's it." So, I gave him a $20... he wouldn't take anymore.

As he's leaving, he kisses my hand and starts talking about how when he's in heaven that he'll send an angel to guard over me. But before then, he's going to come and paint my bloody stoops because they're badly in need of major repairs. And, he noted that I've been talking about painting them all summer and haven't done a blessed thing....

So, I'm truly hoping that he will be here tomorrow alive and well. I'll hand him a brush and he can help me paint a bit....~~~~my fingers are crossed!~~~~
