The $100 charge in this example is very low in this part of the U.S., but the procedure is pretty much the same everywhere.
Your 10 minute office visit needs 8 people and 45 minutes of work

Sounds about right, 10 minutes is about the average you spend with the doctor. All the other components of the visit are pretty acurate.

Good Lord!
I ring the surgery at 8.30am for an appointment the same day, the receptionist answers and slots you in. You can choose to see a nurse, a prescribing nurse, a midwife or a doctor.
You show up at the surgery at the allotted time, book yourself in with the same receptionist that answered the phone in the morning then take your place in the waiting room to await the nurse/midwife/doctor calling you in.
I'm sure there are others behind the scenes within the surgery but we only see one health professional and thank god it's free! Yours sounds a bit like a factory conveyor belt, with different people poking and prodding. I don't always get to see my family doctor, but I often do, and it's great as he knows my mum, sister, brother and my children.

Betty Boop and fuzzywuzzy........it is not FREE, we all pay for it.....just not on point of delivery.
We might call it social care, the Americans might call it rampant socialism and a precursor to the breakdown of civilisation.

I know we do, but I don't have to think about whether I can afford to see the doctor this week or noti
