This Poll has just started on a Financial/Investment Forum that I participate in. I'm curious to know if a group of Investors varies from other groups. The numbers will grow and I will update.

By "friend," I mean someone outside of your family whom you talk to for fun/enjoyment at least occasionally (either in person or on the phone) and whom you enjoy spending time with in person (or you would if distance weren't an issue). "Talk to" meaning you talk to them in person or on the phone; email, texting, Facebook, instant messaging, etc. don't count. You can include your spouse or significant other and their family if applicable, but don't include your family.

You may have a different definition of "friend," but for this poll just go with the definition above.

I think anyone concerned enough to actually take part In this would have no friends.

That's an interesting point of view.

By the definition here, I have 6.

As I age the list gets smaller but for now I communicate with about 12 close friends that aren't related. I'm not much for chit chat it bores the heck out of me and my friend know this so our conversations are quick and to the point.

By your definition Lon i'd say 5 (humans)

I much prefer dogs and see, communicate with 15 of them on a regular basis.

Wow have you actually met face to face those 110 people? I'd say my facebook account has at least a third of people i have never actually met.

oh, certainly. There are far more than that. Those are just the people I wish well and who I think might still think of me from time to time.

eta: there are some I really wish I could contact who don't have a facebook account or only have fan pages and I've long since lost their numbers.

The thing I find odd about the friendship thing is that some of the people I feel closest to are the people I talk to the least. There are people I've met and consider friends who I might never see again but we had very important moments together and we think of each other fondly. All the people on my facebook are people I find interesting even if I don't carry on daily conversations with them but there are a lot of people missing from that list that I hope to one day be reunited with.

it took me awhile but I did eventually count them . No relatives, no facebook, no forums.

In terms of my difinition of 'a friend' is one who would help you out in a pickle, someone who wouldn't mind you crying on their shoulder. Someone who will listen as you speak. And laugh at your jokes. Is upset that you had a function and didn't invite them.

So all up ( I had the boys help me ) 364 people.The others I just call aquantances.

Odd definition of friend - I like talking to people (at least, once I get used to them) and like being in the company of people I know (at least, until I've had enough and want to be alone) so by your definition it would be dozens. The fact that I know very little about the lives of most of these people makes them, in my estimation, acquaintances rather than friends of whom I'd count maybe two.

Yep, still the same then . I find it extraudinary that people would say 5 or 6. Maybe it's my lifestyle and where I live or how I interact with others. Or maybe i find humans to be my favourite mammals I dunno

I have had the most lovely afternoon with one of my friends. Brian who will tell you at every opportunity.. 'I'm 87 you know'.

I went to his beautiful house near Bath and spent a lovely sunny afternoon In his English Country Garden.

He stood underneath holding the sack while I climbed his massive apple tree shaking the apples off while we giggled like kids.

We had coffee and chocolate cake while his home made bread was cooking and after we went out to collect Hazlenuts from his tree's and grapes from his vines.

We then marvelled at the restoration of his 1932 Sunbeam Motorcycle complete with sidecar his Father left him.

We strolled around the garden and then we routed through his garage where he gave me all manner of old things to sell at a car boot to raise funds for my Fox Project.

Friends come In all shapes and sizes and all ages. I am blessed.

Very descriptive and nice afternoon----I could almost smell the bread, cake and coffee.

He Is one of the kindest men I have ever met and although there Is quite an age difference between us, we do have some giggles.

As I said, friends come In all types.

Now I am just wondering what the heck to do with half a ton of apples, several punds of tomatoes, grapes and nuts.

Wonderful, was that the Lion or the Model 9 - they're both beautiful

However, I am visiting Brian again In the next week or two and Intend to go armed with camera. I will put It up as a thread because It was nothing short of a work of art. He did show me some pics on his computer of the rusted condition of the bike before restoration and I will ask If he can e mail these to me.

It was the side car that fascinated me because many old Sunbeams still around are usually minus sidecar.

Brian told me that the only thing he had to actually replace was the wheel spokes, the rubber treads on the footrests and the tyres. The rest was lovingly restored over a few years.

A lot of the old Sunbeams would have been solo - never attached to a sidecar.

You can tell the Lion because it was the old sidevalve engine (flathead) rather then the newer longstroke overhead valve engine with the very tall cylinder reaching up under the tank.

Before and after photo's would be appreciated - I'm more familiar with the later S7 and S8 shafties but the older bikes fascinate me.

This Is the level of my knowledge :wah::wah:

I will get all the Information I can on the bike when I next visit Bryn.

What a strange distribution - how do you explain it?

The members here obviously don't go in for polls quite as enthusiastically as your investors - not enough votes to be statistically significant.

Like FG this Investor Forum has many members but only a few choose to participate in the poll.
