I would be more inclined to buy the insurance, that's for sure. Seems there's a lot of missiles came up missing in Libya. Just what kind I don't know but an RPG-7 can take down an airplane with some luck. An old Igla would have an even better chance.
Oh the tangled webs we weave.

Ahhh Scrat...yes we do weave tangled webs and hopefully those missing missiles from Libya get caught up in those webs.
It is a scary thing but so is life.

I believe there is still and "Act of War"/"Act of Terrorism" clause in the insurance.
It would be a waste of money.

Are you saying none of the 9/11 passengers got air-industry insurance payouts, Lars? It's not an aspect that had occurred to me. Would it extend to personal life insurance they might be carrying too?

Well, after making that statement, I looked it up.
Here is some info about it.
Terrorism | Act of War | Insurance Payments | Insure.com
I do remember, back in the 60's that flight insurance policy I purchased distinctly stated that all benefits would be void in the event of an act of War.
There are some companies that have clauses regarding travel in a known war zone or where terrorist activity is known to occur.
If someone starts shooting down commercial flights that "area of terrorist activity" might conveniently be expanded.
