Anyone interested in horse racing movies will love this film. BRING TISSUES!!!!

It's the story of the Oliver family ( a family of Jockeys) and the 2002 Melbourne cup.

I welled up just looking at the trailer for this film because I remember betting on Damiens horse. Anyone who has anything to do with racing around the world would know of the Oliver brothers and the importance of the Melbourne Cup for racing around the world .. but aside from that the film also gives an insight into Melbourne Australia. The home of the "Race that stops a nation". But I repeat ....bring tissues.

It's a historical movie so I'll give a bit of background .

The 2002 Melbourne cup was won by Media Puzzle (May 7, 1997 - June 22, 2006), foaled in the United States was an Irish horse bred by Walter Haefner's Moyglare Stud Farm and owned by Dr. M. W. Smurfit.

The oliver family had had their fair share of tragedy with Damien's father Ray dying from injuries suffered after he fell from his mount during the Boulder Cup at Kalgoorlie in 1975. And then Jason Oliver who was killed in a fall at Belmont Park Racecourse, Western Australia when a young horse he was riding broke both front legs and fell during a race trial. The horse was found to have been administered phenylbutazone prior to the trial and this was thought to be a contributing factor in the accident. His life support was turned off four days before the Cup , the day after the Cup they buried him. Jockey Jason Oliver dies - theage.com.au
