like a bully high on their successful (thus far) regular beating of the Palestinians wants to take on Iran.

Really?

Even with US backing... really?

You want to go there?

Hint: Most of the world thinks you're a giant dick. The US have some homebrewed protest issues. Is this a good time?

Here's what I think:

They saw UNESCO vote in Palestine with overwhelming support and they want to end the idea of a two state solution right away. It's all or nothing. And if that's the way they want to play it was never a negotiation in the first place. Evacuate because I hope it ends up with nothing.

Oscar. AIPAC is why. The US gives billions to Israel because the Jewish population in America votes. They get money from American Jews and money given to Israeli banks ect is laundered there and many millions come back to the politicians in many ways. Shakeasswilly does the same thing with the money given to Georgia. He buys senators like John McInsane to champion his cause.

As for Israel attacking Iran, they won't go it alone if they do. They will need assistance in some form, a conquest and occupation of Iran I would think is out of the question by just about anyone. Not to say it couldn't be done though it just seems highly unlikely. Iran will probably be bombed sooner or later.

Do you really think the American people will fall for it all again?

The South African Bureau for State Security had, I think, considerable influence in Washington after the War and into the late 1970s. Then apartheid was dismantled and the weight was lifted. I believe that once Israel's constitutions and laws become apartheid-free a similar relaxation will happen. I think it's nearer than most people imagine, the social strain in Israel is at breaking point and America's influence on the world at large is a pale shadow of what it had in the 20th century.

I think the pre-emptive warnings towards Iran are a last dig flailing in response to Israel and the US having to admit their moral power to do wrong is at an end. The majority of the world recognises apartheid when it sees it and Israel is going to have to accept 2 States and retreat or see it through to the bitter fiery end of them crashing and burning. For me, the longer their oppression of Palestine goes on the less I feel Israel has the right to exist. They are there because we're supposed to "learn something" from the Holocaust and the world is supposed to owe them something. If Israel didn't learn not to commit atrocities from WWII then who will? I have a boycott on Holocaust memoirs until Israel ceases to occupy.

How can the US legitimately back an attack on Iran to support Israel when Israel ignores their condemnations of the settlement war crimes? They could in the past but... times have changed.

There's another thread now predicting war with Iran within the year, instead of replying there, which supposes Saudi Arabia is behind the political maneuvering, I'm going to bump this one. Why? Because Obama and Sarkozy were recently caught off stage talking about what a liar and annoyance Netanyahu is and because the IAEA report asserts that Iran ceased developing their nuclear arms program a long time ago. So... so... um... yep.

I'm actually expecting an IAEA whistleblower to announce who's behind that last report wording.
