As you have helped me a great deal In the past getting Information on some Items that I have had difficulty finding.... perhaps you would take the trouble to help me with this.?

I am led to believe my Mother bought this around 1940....1942. Any Idea's or your skill at finding Items on the net?

( Something else that's a pig to clean )

Havn't seen anything like it before but are there any hallmarks / maker's marks on it?

I have many treasures of my Parents and would just like to know more about them.

That is very close.... Thanks Whizzy. The Australian one Is brass, mine Is silver but yes, very much the same.

I appreciate you posting that, It's the first one I have seen other than mine.

When I was in the UK in 2000, I drove down to Dover. Then from there along the coast toward Folkstone.

There was a "Battle of Britain" museum just east of Folkstone which I explored.

I remember seeing some items very much like that in their gift shop.

It's a good Idea to contact a museum but I can't see this coming from a gift shop. It was bought by my Mother In the 40's and It's silver.

In Fact, some years ago, some travellers were calling at houses on my parents estate asking If they had any old watches to sell. My Father said that as It happened, he had some and they came Inside the house. The Airman was on my parents mantlepiece and they made a beeline for It while my Father was getting the watches. They tried very hard to persued him to sell It.... yeah right !!!!

Anyway, several months later they called at the house again and asked my Mother to sell them this silver airman. My Father had just died and we are In no doubt those bastards looked through obituaries and went back to persued my elderly Mother to part with It.

She had great delight In telling them they were too late because my Father had given It to me just before he died.
