Cultural Differences

It never ceases to get my attention when I observe the many cultural differences between Americans and New Zealanders. It's not that one is right and the other wrong, just different. The use of a knife & fork for example. I accidentally step on some ones foot and have them apologies to me. No verbal acknowledgement of who won or lost a sports match be it golf, bowls, tennis etc. as well as the extremely quiet tone during these matches. No yelling or shouting, no high fives. We Yanks are a boisterous people after all.
I deliberately wore a pair of bright red trousers to play Bowls on Saturday (I don't have the traditional whites). I don't mind being the TALL POPPY, after all I am 6' 4". I realize of course that I am allowed a bit of slack due to the fact that I am married to a Kiwi and am American.
It drives me nuts to write a check and wait weeks for it to get deposited. This happens all too often. Write a check in the US and it gets deposited before the ink is dry.
These are just a few of the many differences.

Many of us Yanks will use the fork to sever egg, veggies etc. instead of using the knife, also, we tend not to use the knife to push food onto a fork, instead, we stab the food.

It must be a trait shared from the British, we British say sorry and thank you so many times through out the day.
You say NOW you deliberately wore red trousers, why because the big checkered ones were in the wash ?
I bet there is a few comical tales over drinks for the remainder of the year, about that loud gaudy Yank.

You are spot on re:shared British traits since most of the population has English, Irish, Scottish roots.

Except for the BNP, of course, who are stupid racist xenophobic bullies who pour liquefied faeces through the letterboxes of people they don't like and fantasise about mass murder over a few pints.

Watch from 8 mins 30 secs or so.

I don't oblige the BNP and will most certainly not keep quiet. It isn't libellous or tripe if a BNP member - a councillor - claims to have done it. And the regional and class based insults are gratuitous and to be expected.
The fantasies about mass murder on the video are quite interesting, as are the tactics for getting Asian votes. Going to have a law abiding rant about them in the grumpy towers?

It's funny that he's so proud of himself for collecting dog poo, mixing it up in water and then sucking it up in a squirt gun. Most 'normal' people would realize how foolish they were being.

This is the British National Party we are talking about...
To call them foolish is to be very kind. The link below gives an idea of what they are REALLY about:
