Why do so many get their nose out of joint when others speak their mind & perceive what is said as an affront to their country or person?Lighten up, take it with a grain of salt and respond with clear thought and less anger or emotion. There are many points of view on a wide range of subjects and we can all learn and grow by not necessarily accepting some one else's point of view, but by respecting their point of view.

Totally agree, if you don't like what's said, don't get mad but put forward a reasoned argument against it and show it for the rubbish you think it is

I think much of the defensiveness is due to not knowing how to do as you suggest, Lon. It's frustrating for both the reader as well as the poster trying to do the best they can (for those who truly want to communicate better). It is fun and rewarding when we see members making strides to do better. Everyone here is a teacher, and I mean everyone. There are certain members of this forum that people would pay good money to learn from. I'm grateful for the experience here.

Agree with previous points. I think mood also plays its part: If one has had a rotten day, one is much more likely to take the worst possible interpretation of what someone has said. Here as well as in the world.

I always speak my mind and don't expect everyone to agree with me. *After all, if people lack the intellect, foresight & logic in agreeing with me I can forgive and understand these deficiencies. :wah:
