1. Don’t put drugs in women’s drinks.

2. When you see a woman walking by herself, leave her alone.

3. If you pull over to help a woman whose car has broken down, remember not to rape her.

4. If you are in an elevator and a woman gets in, don’t rape her.

5. When you encounter a woman who is asleep, the safest course of action is to not rape her.

6. Never creep into a woman’s home through an unlocked door or window, or spring out at her from between parked cars, or rape her.

7. Remember, people go to the laundry room to do their laundry. Do not attempt to molest someone who is alone in a laundry room.

8. Use the Buddy System! If it is inconvenient for you to stop yourself from raping women, ask a trusted friend to accompany you at all times.

9. Carry a rape whistle. If you find that you are about to rape someone, blow the whistle until someone comes to stop you.

10. Don’t forget: Honesty is the best policy. When asking a woman out on a date, don’t pretend that you are interested in her as a person; tell her straight up that you expect to be raping her later. If you don’t communicate your intentions, the woman may take it as a sign that you do not plan to rape her.

Noooooooooooooo Bruv don't say sorry! Really! It's not you ... In fact you have just paid me a wonderful compliment! I really am a Weird, Eccentric, Bohemian, Thinking, Artistic, Gypsy (Oops! I mean Traveller!) Writer!

I also believe that a woman has the right to walk down any dark alley after dark and no man has the right to touch her without her permission. Yeah, I know it's only a pipe dream ... but oh! Did I forget to mention that I am also a Dreamer? Well ... I am! :-6

Explain the reason you think it's funny. I'm unclear why the list setup was chosen. I think it needs a bigger lead in and I don't think number ten fits. Also, I'd adopt the top ten list format starting with the least effective and ending with what is supposed to be the funniest. Of course, I'm unable to help with the numbering system because the point isn't made clear by the current telling.

... essentially, your "joke" doesn't work. It's problematic. It needs fixing. How invested are you in making it better?

It could be one of the dumbest things I've read in quite a while. Not funny dumb or witty dumb or even offensive dumb.

I take that back. It is the dumbest... and I read Kardashian stories..:guitarist

Seriously, was this emailed to you and you are just passing it along? That's the only semi-logical explanation I can think of.

Just stupid.:-2

I've taken advice and moved the thread back from the Compost Heap to General Chit Chat where it originated, for further discussion.

I think you'll find, if you read the original from 2002, that what JJ posted is a parody written with the intention to amuse. All you need do is compare the original with the parody to see it's so. The original is a laudable scream of outrage.

In retrospect and in the light of day I now realise that posting this thread was an error of judgement on my part. Kindly delete it as I have no desire to be responsible for any further division here. Thank you.

... but for reasons best known to himself he has decided not to comply with my request.

It's interesting how the adaptation we know as morality has become part of the selection process.

On the list: If the message were not about those predisposed to engaging in rape, I'd disagree with numbers 27 & 28. It's well known AFAIK that viewing pornographic material of consenting adults in any form does not prove a person is a rapist nor is it proven that it's a sort of gateway to the behavior. I know this because I saw it on the show Bullshit and those guys are smart.
