A friend who got suddenly struck by acne at 32yrs old went to see her doctor who put her on birth control for it without much discussion. Two months later she went back and the acne was no better. The doctor walked in the room and said "Oh, My God! You've got to go on antibiotics for three months and Accutane if that doesn't work."

I had told my friend to ask about Nystatin and Candida Albicans as this doctor should have in her notes that my friend was also on anti-fungals for nail fungus and broke out in acne right after going off the last meds.

They didn't get that far because of the "Oh My God!"



Reminded me of when I went in to a clinic with a sty or cyst on the inside of my eyelid and when I pulled the lid down the doctor recoiled in such a way you'd have thought I had "666" tattooed on it.

Then another time I had really painful abdominal bloating and my doctor told me I was just getting fat. I hesitated to remind her that getting fat doesn't hurt.

Long ago I was getting all four wisdom teeth removed and there was debate over whether or not a sip of water I'd joked about was a problem so the oral surgeon told me as he leaned over the operating chair that he might have to do the surgery without anaesthetic. He said that as I got tunnel vision and blacked out because he'd already given it to me.

Got any good stories of ******* doctors?

I had one doctor back in the 1990s who was so arrogant that he couldn't abide simple questions and assumed everything was a challenge to his judgement. One time I called him with a question and I couldn't hear his answer clearly because he was eating a bag of potato chips which were crunching loudly into the phone receiver. Very impressive! His answers were quite blithe and flip and it was clear that I was disturbing his snack break. The final break came on another occasion when I asked yet another question and he became so annoyed that he flung a box of tissues at me. I don't garner that reaction from most doctors or professionals in general or for that matter people in general. Either we simply weren't a good match as doctor/patient or he definitely needs to go to charm school.

I hate dealing with doctors, anymore.

They are right up there with Telephone company customer support.

I would rather deal with lawyers.

I ws seeing a doc about my diabetes a while back. He changed my meds from Prandin which I could carry around with me, and take just prior to a meal (easy to remember) to stuff I needed to take 30 minutes or so before a meal.

I am frickin busy, and travel a lot, and often don't know 30 minutes ahead, when I will have a meal. And the pills are larger and inconvenient to carry around. So, I was often missing the meds, and my Blood sugar was elevated.

Next visit, he asks how I am doing with the new meds. I tell him I often miss taking them and my BS was often higher than it should be, and that I need to work on getting the routine going, or go back to the Prandin.

He then looks at my A1C and says, "hmm, your A1C is higher than it should be. We will have to increase the dosage on your meds."

Most of my other doctor stories are about when dealing with one of my parents in their last days, and piss me off too much to write them down.
