A couple hours on the gun range blasting the tar out of almost anything inanimate really does it for me. That or a nice massage.

I used to cut grass. It helped me to release my frustrations. The arthritis stopped that so now I try to pamper myself by soaking in a bubble bath, doing my nails, etc.

FLOPSTOCK,
So true, playing with kids, be they babies up to teens can get your mind back on track.. Kids have a way of keeping you centered.. YOU DON'T SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF, AND GET BACK TO LIVING..

Might sound like a strange pick-me-up and it depends on the situation but I like to have a damn good cry. (privately) It's like a steam release valve or something. Usually feel better afterwards and just get on with whatever...

Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't.
Options:
*draw a zen card to get a new perspective.
*think back to the last time I thought I couldn't take it and remember how I survived
*make lists
*read my tarot (difficult to have clear perspective but makes me feel better)
*garden
*get drunk (procrastinate)
*tell people I will never speak to them again (or at least for the weekend :wah: )
*laugh at myself
usually in that order

I take a nap. If I can't sleep, I'll clean or surf the internet to get my mind off the problem.

I power up the Playstation 2 and get immersed in a videogame. Blasting the tar out of aliens helps me quite a bit.

I clean at night for the obvious reason of the unsafe streets in London, and the last time I stormed out of the house in a mood in the middle of the night, I got lost... Did calm me down though

super stress... I clean like mad, and mad I usually am. I unplug the phone, I turn on the stereo and I send the kid off to someone elses house and go to town.
Moderate stress, I will bike or walk or go onto my fave website and create silly little flowers or snowflakes to calm me down. Very soothing and takes my mind away for a bit.

undefinedSometimes if I am only moderately stressed I drink a coke and chocolate covered cashews-Thats a moderate day.
-For the big stuff I mess with double bladed sarcasum to my extremely rude patients so they leave not quite knowing what I ment.
Yes this is small but hey, gotta have some kind of fun when your getting bitched at for 10 to 14 hours.

No one has mentioned watching TV. When I used to be ocassionally stressed from my high pressure job, I would come home, bark at the wife, (god bless her) and turn on TV and watch some friverlious little dittie-the furthest thing from reality, and that totally relaxed me within minutes. Worked every time!

For me this used to be a biggy, I was always anxious about something.
Not so much anymore, now I talk myself down. If its something I can change I
decide the best way to go about it, if its not then I breathe deep and allow myself
enough room to just be human. I can only do so much and if Im doing my best
then thats enough. I find that by remaining calm Im able to ease myself out of a
tough situation and keep my thinking clear. Have confidence that your ok and it
will pass.........it always does. The more I practice this the more it becomes who
I am and the way I function. Eventually it becomes your way.
Hang in there ! :-6

When I was a teen I chopped wood or mowed the lawn ... or whatever punishment was given me.
Now that I'm grown and over-analyze everything anyway, I over-analyze why I'm so stressed out. The very exercise of it burns off the anger, stress, etc.
