Interesting! It's hard to know what to make of it. Giant? Alien? Footprint of God? Natural erosion? Hoax? Which theory do you lean towards?
I can't help thinking it reminds me of the fuzzy foot bathmats and rugs that were so popular in the 70s. Except it's not fuzzy!

If I had to guess I would suggest it was hammered out hundreds, if not a couple of thousand years ago in the same way and for the same reasons that the giant carvings in North America were.

Everyone's agreed that the shape is in granite, I think.
Granite forms at depths exceeding one mile by the cooling of magma to below its liquefaction temperature. By the time it appears at the surface it's hard rock, it doesn't take an imprint. Anything pressing hard enough to cause an imprint would shatter the rock, not leave a dent.
So, either it's cut or it's weathered. Either way it's not a footprint.

It's interesting this 'footprint' was discovered by Michael Tellinger, an interesting person in his own rite. I suppose this discovery fits in with Tellinger's book Slave Species of god.

Well, only seeing the film, I would be hard pressed to accept that the stone around there is Granite.
It looks more sedimentary, to me.
If it is sedimentary, then that was one big sumbitch walkin in the mud a long time ago.
If it is granite, then carving is about the only thing that makes any sense.
Pretty interesting phenomenon, whatever it is.

Perhaps if I cite THE PROMETHEAN POST: Giant Foot Print 200 Million Years Old - South Africa then. That has checkable background in it.

It's obviously a troll footprint from Middle Earth. Sheesh.

Your trouble is you always insist on applying common sense.

Well, there ya go, then.
Impeccable reputation, so it MUST be granite.
Then it was pretty darned hot when the big guy put his foot in it. (notice the apparent "splash out" at the toes.
Also, it would seem the critter only had four toes.
Fascinating, however it got there.

Excellent question.
I know that for me, It would take my seeing it for myself, or for someone that I know, personally, and that I trust, to report that they have seen it up close and personal, for me to actually accept that the thing is real.
I grew up in a family of skeptics.
One of the first maxims I remember was, "Believe none of what you hear, and only half of what you see."
For all I know, that "granite" is painted Styrofoam.
