Before starting your dishwasher:
Run water into the kitchen sink then run to the bathroom and watch the bathroom sink fill up. Plunge the bathroom sink and run to the kitchen to watch the kitchen sink fill up. Plunge the kitchen sink then run to the bathroom to watch the bathroom sink fill up.
Repeat.
When you've really got the hang of it and you're limber... start the dishwasher!
These are the moments when I'm glad I rent.
Turns out the pedestal sink in the bathroom has a crack in the porcelain so put a towel on the floor and watch your step while running back and forth.
