I watched this this morning. I always thought that our politicians knew America needed a stable and upwardly mobile middle class. I always thought they understand that a country can't function well without everyone having a shot, a chance to better themselves. I am now convinced that they just plain don't give a damn.

What are your thoughts?

This is a long video, 52 minutes but its well worth the time to watch. It's kind of scarey.

Corporatism is feudalism by another name. Don't think much of Ron paul but he does make some good points.

Socialism vs Corporatism by Ron Paul

The debate about socialism has rather moved on in europe -socialism and communism are not seen as synonymous, america seems to be stuck in a time warp. like communism libertarianism is a utopian notion that just will not work. Sadly in the UK we have things moving the same way but at least there are nominally socialist party most of Ron paul's views put him in the loony fringe of politics I doubt he would get elected.

The only reason you have the poor is to keep the middle class nervous. :)

The poor ain't lazy... they're kept desperate. And we need desperate people to take care of the nasty **** no one else wants to do.

Recent deportation waves in the US have left the farmers without pickers. Lots of unemployed but, for some reason, they don't like the job. They really like eating the fruit and veg but those damn immigrants are the problem with today's economy.

I think not. I think we're so obsessed with how to make the most money for the least amount of work we've forgotten that self-esteem comes from having created something. Actually done something. Not just talked about it. Not just had meetings about it. Not just sold stocks and bonds guessing who is going to actually do the thing. Actually doing something purely creative and humanly wonderful.

Gotta love the poor. Slavery created some great music.

Actually I know a thirty year old who works two meaningless jobs (works in a chicken shop and works behind the bar in a pub.) She keeps her 32 horse stud going very well.
