If all goes to plan, I will be the proud owner of 2.5 % share of a 4 year old un-raced novice race-horse.
Looking to sign a contract within the week.

Good luck with that. About 15 years ago my family owned 4 racing greyhounds. Had a blast watching them run and 2 of them were really good.

You'll never know until you sign the papers.
If being part owner of a race horse is your dream, then it will come true.
If being part owner of a champion is the dream, only time will tell.

My grandfather( mother`s side ) was a trainer of horses. He was a jock at the Santa Ana Racetrack in Manila before he became a horse trainer. So, what I`m trying to say is I want to congratulate your 4 year old un-raced novice race horse for being within this week owned by you.

Thanks Yzgi, Anne and Lars...
Yes, It's very exciting...
The truth Is, there Is no way I could finance a Steeplechaser with a track record because then we are looking at thousands of Euro's even for a part share.
My passion Is Steeple chasing but In order to get on the ladder, I have had to lower my expectations to get started.
She's a mare and she's a flat sprinter..... having said that, Mare's do equally well on the flat as the boys here In the UK. Flat racing also gives less chance of Injury.
Her brother has done rather well and I was put on to her by some racing chums who have also gone In on the syndicate....

She's due for her debut this season.

Funny enough.... Just been talking about Black Caviar :wah:
She's done well In training. She's at ease with the starting gates and she's a real lively little filly.... She's a very small horse but with a big backside and front ( like Denman ) ( Power where needed ).
She''s In a maiden Filly race Saturday but there are apparently a couple In the race who could be a threat to her tbh..... we'll see how she goes.
It's not about prize money.... It's a chance to get on the rung on the ladder and enjoy the perks of being an owner.

Duchess has been withdrawn today at Doncaster. Her trainer feels she needs just one more good gallop up the hill and there was a couple today who were a danger to her.
She will now either run at Southall wednesday or Redcar Thursday.

It's good tactics from the trainer.... to not put her In a no hoper race where there are dangers who could beat her on the day..... For her maiden debut, we want a win :sneaky:

Not that I'm aware Bryn..... She's trained In North Yorkshire ( uphill :sneaky: ) on grass.
Just had word tonight.......... she's confirmed to run Monday at Redcar over 6 furlongs.
Jockey Duran Fentiman did some work on her yesterday and she's looking good....

The declarations have just been made....
Mon Duchess will run The 3.30 pm Maiden Fillies race at Redcar Monday.
She Is as fit as Lawrence can get her at home. The ground Is alot softer than Ideal for maiden filles, but then they are all in the same boat.
There Is every possibility It will be televised on Channel Four racing.

Check your Channel 4 Racing listing In the morning.... It will say for example.... ' Racing from Doncaster and Redcar' etc....
If It doesn't, any High Street betting office will show It.... that's why they have multiple screens now, to cover every track on the day...

So.....
She ran today at Redcar In the Maiden Fillies race.......... how did she get on In her first ever race ????
She came 4 th
I have to say I was hugely Impressed with her. Seeing as she had never run a proper race before, she looked just magnificent In the parade ring. She never batted an eye lid at the Jockey mount and went down to post really smoothly. She was one of the first In the starting gates and waited patiently while another runner acted up.
She got away fast and at one point was lying second. She responded well to what Duran, her jockey asked of her. Coming 4 th Incurred no disgrace whatsoever considering the first four were quite tightly grouped and only about 2 to 3 lengths In It. She finished behind the 1/5 odds on favourite by just half a length.
The pace was quick and she ran a blinder. There Is huge potential In her going by today....
I am really thrilled with her.

She ran well and gave the hot favourite a run for the money, it looked at one point as though she took the lead but the angles can be deceptive.
All in all a promising start.

You're right Bryn... briefly, she took the lead....
Had an e mail tonight and they are thrilled and told me they are still smiling now !!!
They made no promises today because the rain meant the going was far too soft for her liking so she did better than hoped for on unfavoured ground....
What they are so pleased with ( and relieved ) was her professionalism throughout. As her trainer said, until they run that first race, you really don't know what you've got and weather they'll take It In their stride as she did. She made a very fast start from the starting gate which shows she wanted to run and she responded very well to the whip and did what he asked.
As she did briefly take the lead, her trainer now thinks she may fare better over 5 furlongs Instead of 6.....
I hope to make the trip the next time she races and all going well, meet up with FG member Kazalala for lunch on the course.

OMG.... Well, I've been given a good belly laugh today.
I've been Informed of the update on Wayne Rooney buying major shares In the Dutch Colt. The new name has been approved but I'm not posting It here until It's official but apparently they can thank the WAGS for his new name.... He'll race for the first time next week hopefully...... I just can't wait to hear a racing commentator get his tounge around that new name :yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl
Only a footballer would call a race horse that :yh_rotfl
Actually I can Image the commentator studying the horses names and colours prior to the race, seeing that and thinking ' Oh s.hit.... caution and clear pronunciation Is required on this one'

She didn't do at all well today at Doncaster. Two things were against her, she carried the highest weight and the going was soft again due to the rain. Still, one more race to go without being placed......... Maidens have to run three races before being given a handicap. Three races un-placed gives them a lower handicap and.... oh you work It out !!!!!
