I have had a boring evening, trawling the TV for something of interest, and happened across two famously idolised people.

Parkinson had a rerun of an interview with the leg end known as Burton, what a pretentious affectatious twat he was.He talked in his characteristic booming welsh voice, while flicking fag ash from his clothes, all the time a smug smile across his face.

Never could see the attraction in this 'great man'

Now then.....Cleo Lane, I remember every time she was on TV way back when and all the plaudits she received, beautiful, amazing singer, all time great etc etc.........well I disagree.

She had a very unique voice that just fell short of being musical, as far as I am concerned. She was like a Stradivarius played badly, everything going for her but poorly executed. Tonight I tried to enjoy her voice, gave her a fair re-appraisal, and I think I was correct first time round, nice girl, nice voice, musical ear/talent lacking.

I feel better now.......feel free to slag me off, or agree, or add any over hyped over achievers of your own.

Well, I was going to say Celine Dion, especially that song from Titanic but I found this video of a live performance and she really does have a lovely voice. The studio version bothers me mostly because you can hear her lisp that sounds like she's got cotton stuffed in her mouth. This song really is better as an instrumental, the flute is haunting.

Keith Lemon, what is the point? Can't stand him, I tried watching Celebrity Juice, noticed it whilst channel hopping through the dire television on offer this evening. I should have just switched it off.

Oliver Reed made Richard Burton look like a wet bag of cement. Sexy and charismatic... RWOAR!

I can't seem to find the second part of this, damnit.

You must all be too young to remember Cleo Lane then ?

Have to agree about Celine Deon, nice girl , nice voice, but vastly over rated as far as I am concerned.

Keith Lemon.......I have watched him and tried to like him, but there is something creepy about him. Caught him tonight with another format, I might grow to like him, I might watch him again at a push...........as an experiment.

Oliver bloody Reed.................yet another bleeding heart luvvie alcoholic numptie, he could act though, but was always 'in character' when not acting. His Parky interview was an embarrassingly cringeworthy TV classic........I am writhing just remembering it.

Really? I think he's hilarious. I'm really enjoying it and I'm glad you mentioned this Parkinson guy since I had never heard of him.

Maybe it gets cringeworthy in part 3.

I can remember Cleo Laine...not my sort of music. I thought Richard Burton was okay...ish.

I always thought Oliver Reed was rather delectable.

Keith Lemon...incredibly annoying, unfunny and, sadly, inescapable because he's in far too many television programmes.

It wasn't Parkinson, my memory failed me, it was Michael Aspel's chat show, this is it....

Yeah, I noticed quite a few "Oliver Reed drunk on talk show" videos when he was older, but I'd rather not remember him that way.

I watched a Parkinson "sexist" interview with a very young and incredibly boring Helen Mirren that didn't seem sexist at all. He asked Oliver Reed basically the same questions about nudity and sex in his films. I think Ms Mirren is a wonderful actress and an very attractive woman but she was definitely overrated in her youth.

I remember seeing him in a Hammer film on TV when I was a teen and being instantly smitten, even with him playing a monster in a goofy movie. He was still very appealing in Gladiator decades later.
