The Presidency of Reagan marks the moment Republican America started electing people of limited understanding to be front men for corporate interests.
And the USA has been going downhill ever since.
(I know this is a simplification, but it is very much how it looks from here)

We had thatcherism. The present rot in both countries started with the pair of them.

Don't know about Godzilla, but I am pretty sure he never fired an Uzi.

Here is an example. As you can plainly see, RR is not riding Godzilla. Godzilla melts uzi's'

That is the famed Velocoraptor, of Jurassic Park fame.
Wouldn't even be a light snack for Godzilla.

it is interesting to see the process of the sainthood of Reagan. All of his minor little faults, like unconstitutional actions to prop up right-wing dictators are reduced. His many increases in income tax where made to be non-existant. His mess in central america was nothing. He was a saint! Doncha know, he was a saint! Even those times when he was off describing some movie as history, it was all the problem of the beholder. He was perfect!
Or so he is being promoted by many right now. Is it a case where enough time has passed that they figure that people don't remmber? Perhaps it is just a magic name. I don't know.
It frustrates me that those who hold him up as the paragon have zero cluses as to his actual record.

I'm a bit puzzled how the GOP thinks Reagan was some kind of financial genius. This should be his portrait for the history books:
