Oh, the drama.

Canada created new forms of money. Plastic $100 and $50 bills. The brown one (100) originally had a woman pictured on it who "test audiences" (lol) said was "too Asian" so they changed the picture to make her Caucasian. Now the Bank of Canada has had to apologize for poor handling of the issue in a way that appears reactionary and racist.

Who knew?

I've handled the new bills and all I thought was that they are incredibly slick to handle when counting in volume. Never even looked at the picture on it.

Well the original inhabitants were asiatic in appearance were they not. Just think, if the mongols hadn't decided europe wasn't worth invading white people might have been the oddity

Plastic money doesn't sound like a bad idea. Done correctly it lends itself to better security measures, durability and harder to counterfiet. Probably lower production costs too.

As for the woman on the money I think it would be an appropriate symbol, most natives of the western coasts of Canada and N America are definitely of Asian descent, some say closely related to the Japanese. Eskimos would be a great symbol also.
