During her life, Margie Geddes refused to speak to Betjeman's biographers about their friendship which was always thought to have been plutonic.
BBC News - Tom Brown's School Museum given Betjeman's love letters

He's dead, Plato.
And Margie Geddes.
And, come to that, John Betjeman.
One day maybe the bloody news editor at the BBC website will be too and we can finally have proper proofreading.
Socrates on the other hand isn't dead, Socrates was a fictional character in Greek literature. He was, you might say, Platonic.
