This is going to be a travesty. I'm faint.

I refused to let my kid be given what was almost a mandatory vaccination in Canada. I've been pressured to feel guilty about not having her vaccinated. I almost caved. I'm reading all the growing evidence that this is a bad vaccination and not feeling smug at all. I'm faint. The only reason they pushed to make it mandatory was an unproven link to preventing cervical cancer and now they are going to push it on boys. Boys don't have a cervix.

The only reason for this move is that fewer people opted to have their daughter vaccinated than Merck bargained for.

Doctors have spoken out against it. Lawsuits have been filed. The only people really spreading awareness are connected to silly conspiracy theories and tainted their own credibility. Nevertheless, it is a fraud. I'm sure of it.

best credible source I could find that summarizes nicely:

I'm no expert so have no opinion on the science. But why on earth would you roll out a cervical cancer vaccine to boys?

The boys carry the virus & give it to the girls. Eradicating at the source.

Now that's what I call scientific. ;-)

Ah. That makes sense. Thanks.:)

Interesting.

Some takeaways from that article:

The vaccines offer partial protection against infection from human papillomavirus, or HPV, a common and generally benign sexually transmitted virus that can in rare cases cause cancer after years of silent infection. The Merck vaccine also prevents some genital warts that are caused by other strains of the virus.

"Partial protection?

Where there are Pap smear programs, few women die of cervical cancer. In the United States, it is responsible for 12,000 new cases a year and 3,600 deaths, most in women who did not get Pap smears, said Laurie Markowitz, head of the HPV working group at the C.D.C. (Women with H.I.V. are predisposed to the cancer.)
and

cervical cancer is classified as very rare in the West because it is almost always preventable through regular Pap smears, which detect precancerous cells early enough for effective treatment. Indeed, because the vaccines prevent only 70 percent of cervical cancers, Pap smear screening must continue anyway.

OK, so chances are that very few cases of this cancer will be eliminated by using this vaccine. And all the other preventative measures will still be needed.

Though classified as a sexually transmitted disease, HPV is nearly universal and generally benign. Eighty percent of people will contract it in their lifetime and most will clear it on their own.

Indeed, cervical cancer does not even make the American Cancer Society’s list of 10 deadliest cancers. Among American women, it causes well under a 10th of the number of deaths caused by lung cancer or breast cancer.

A lot of work and expense for something that hardly seems to be a blip on the radar. And back to the HIV comment, perhaps the focus should be there, for this drug?

One rationale for inoculating boys is that entire populations should be vaccinated to achieve what is called herd immunity. But critics ask whether it is worth conducting a campaign on the scale of the one used against polio to eliminate a generally harmless virus.

There's a phrase that will set conspiracy theorist on edge.

Frankly, I am not quite ready to be part of any 'herd', either.

There are doctors who are speaking out against it but their interviews are hosted on conspiracy sites and I'm still looking for better sources. The question to ask is not whether there is a small chance the vaccine might do something good, the question is why the government is paying billions of dollars to vaccinate when the benefits aren't proven to outweigh the risks.

Unfortunately, waiting until it's proven fraud in these cases means waiting for more kids to die and, even then, the information will be suppressed.

Making Gardasil Vaccination Mandatory Would Be Unwise, Academics Say - Health Blog - WSJ

Wall Street Journal has a good summary and further info links from this article back in 2008.

A paper is referenced that can't be read for free but it was written by three doctors and the abstract goes:

Such mandates raise signifcant legal, ethical, and social concerns. This paper argues that mandating HPV vaccination for minor females is premature since long-term safety and efectiveness of the vaccine has not been established, HPV does not pose imminent and signifcant risk of harm to others, a sex specifc mandate raises constitutional concerns, and a mandate will burden fnancially existing government health programs and private physicians. Absent careful consideration and public conversation, HPV mandates may undermine coverage rates for other vaccines.

This necessitates an objective disclosure of the known or foreseeable vaccination benefits and risks. The way in which HPV vaccines are often promoted to women indicates that such disclosure is not always given from the basis of the best available knowledge. For example, while the world's leading medical authorities state that HPV vaccines are an important cervical cancer prevention tool, clinical trials show no evidence that HPV vaccination can protect against cervical cancer.

Off to work. I'll be digging around for more proof of big pharma fraud for some time to come. Banker fraud hurts people but pharma fraud kills them.

Bad boys get the birds.

And since it's still quite early, today as a Personal Representative Anthropological Target (or PRAT) I'm offering to be blamed for

1) Cellulite

2) Ironing

3) Not putting the lavatory seat down

4) Hairs.
