I have mine arriving Sunday morning.
It's only for one night and I'm just dreading It...
I shall smile, grit my teeth, listen to him Intently and try to be Interested In what he's saying. I will laugh when he critises my cooking, laugh at his jokes and be as welcoming as I can.
How do you get through these times?

Keep the door locked.
It's Monday and you're already worried about Sunday

I wouldn't welcome him back or invite him back. Nope, the times have gone since I would allow anyone to stay in my house that made me uncomfortable or took the mickey out of me. :wah:

Just remember he is your Hubby's friend, so there must be some good qualities about him. And he is just staying one night.
I have in-laws that, I'll just say, I'm not crazy about for various reasons. When I do have contact with them, I am courteous. I can't pretend to like someone I don't. But, because they are Hubby's family, I can be hospitable, not hostle. I love my Hubby, not them.

He critises my cooking and the silly thing Is, I'm a damn good cook. Yeah I know that's big headed but I had a good teacher... My Mother.... But what happens Is despite being a good confident cook, I know he'll be looking for fault so I over compensate and end up making silly mistakes..... which he then critises LOL
