I noticed that too!
The only thing I could think of was that the guys were telling them to stay back. I noticed that some of the guys mostly pretended to help. The one was just standing there until others jumped in.
I think I saw recently that that is what frequently happens when there is a crowd around an event. Someone has to make that first move before it occurs to everyone that they need to act.
But I did notice the ladies being given stuff to hold...:p
