For many years I was a Deadhead. A lot of my very

best concert experiences were at their shows. I

remember one time they played at the Stanford

University campus, a very hot day (in the low 90's

probably) and they did a song and I got goose bumps.

A friend didn't believe me until I told her to feel my arm,

and sure enough, there they were.

Fast forward many years, and I'm sitting watching Adele

on 60 Minutes (love her!) and bingo, goose bumps.

Good is just good, no matter what!

I never really like the Grateful Dead... didn't dislike them, they just didn't really do anything for me. And while I can appreciate Adele's powerful voice, I don't really care for her either. Kind of in the same vein, I thought Amy Winehouse was terrible... I've heard cats in heat that sounded better than that poor girl.

Now instrumentals... yeah, I get goosebumps. I particularly like classical/flamenco guitar. Although, come to think of it, that lead singer in Evanescence gives me the shivers, what a voice that girl's got.

I was a deadhead, probably always will be. I love it when the rental car has satellite radio. I lock in the Dead channel.

Thats very true. I can listen to both Grateful Dead and Adele and a lot of stuff in between.

I once brought home my latest acquisition, the first album by a local group called Black Widow - a week later my pesky brother trumped it with the first album by an unknown Brummie band and I had to admit that his was the better.

I was a fan for a long time and saw them often.

One of my favorites was the Wall tour by Pink Floyd. I drove a few hundred miles to see them in LA for that one. I was pleasantly surprised to find that Roger Waters' Wall tour earlier this year was also amazing, and I didn't have to drive as far.

Before my Dad got his hi-fi (Garrard deck, Rogers Ravensbrook amp and Wharfdale speakers ) we had a very large valve gramophone with what I can only describe was a baby's arm holding a 4 inch nail. Not conducive to top quality, hi fidelity reproduction. I suddenly discovered a whole new world amongst my record collection. Sounds and musical passages I'd never heard before. A stereophonic sound stage. Movement and depth.
