Never buy a house from a deadbeat!

I know, I know... hard to predict, right? But we bought ours

TEN AND A HALF YEARS AGO and believe it or not, we STILL

get calls every so often for the guy we bought it from,

collection agencies and the like. A lot of them really push

me about knowing him, I guess they think I'm lying.

At least the woman this morning was fairly nice about it,

and promised me they'd take our number off their files...

That's weird, you guys don't have the same phone number he did, do you? How hard would it be to track the guy down in this day and age instead of harassing the "new" owners of the house? Like I said, weird.

No, and we've had our number for 6 years before we bought this place. What

happens is these places use reverse directories, so they enter this address

'1422 Main Street' and the current phone assigned to that address comes up.

We had unlisted for many, many years, too... but it didn't help.

We still get mail for them, too. Every single time (because I'm a stickler for it)

I write no longer at this address on the envelope, and then whatever year it

is so the senders know it isn't some kind of mistake.

Well if they're so clever, they should be able to see a completely different name for the resident than the person they're looking for. Are they too stupid to realize complete strangers buy house from each other? What a waste of time and manpower.
