Hurricane Sandy produced some caskets to float up from their burial sites.
Just one of the many reasons that I favor Cremation & Scattering.

Looks like they weren't actually buried, they just had cement/stone slabs placed on top. I avoid weddings and funerals like the plague so I'm unfamiliar with cemeteries (and churches)... is this a common procedure?

They were actually buried and the ground water was such that it raised the concrete casket liners containing the casket. Caskets will float as well. It's the custom in many parts of the U.S. to use concrete grave liners. They keep out dirt but not water.

Does this mean you're not planning to be a part of the zombie takeover?

No Zombie Takeover for me. I'll be hanging out with the Flaky Folk.
