“A wise old Owl sat on an oak; The more he saw the less he spoke; The less he spoke the more he heard; Why aren't we all like that wise old bird?” -- Nursery Rhyme

I remember my old nanna freaking out when she saw an owl anywhere near our house & if it sat on our roof then that was terrible, but if it hooted ... then OMG, all hell would break loose cos someone was gonna die!!

Lately however, I have heard that owls are a good omen and that many people enjoy collecting owl figures & ornaments.

So how did the wise old owl get such a bad rep?

Animals Kingdom: Owls Superstitions

I like them.... In that screeching, hooting, mice killing type kind of way.

Yeah they do good by killing mice, not that the rodent population will agree with me. But personally, I have never looked upon an owl as being anything more than a bird able to sort of twist it's neck around 360 degress. Wish I could do that!

Owls are cool cos they eat mice. I guess the rodent population are a bit pissed about this.

Othet than that I would say that they are just like any other bird ... BUT they do have the ability to turn their heads thru 360 degrees. Wish i could do that!!
