As a reason for not yet meeting his six year old grandson Bruv said:

My daughter married a US Sailor she met in Italy.

They subsequently married in the US and have stayed there, after he got invalided out.

I have plans to visit next year.............fingers crossed, finances allowing.

Oh no. It's been six years. You beg borrow or steal to meet that child, to see your daughter, to visit, to hug, to know in person. We are involved in a thread that shows it could all be over in an instant. There is no excuse except, & I apologize for saying, lack of will. I'm astounded. As my mother would have said:

Goyishe sechel. Don't mean to offend, it's just a quote.

Mothers see things different than fathers.

I know it seems like seeing the grandkids should be the most important thing in the world. It is to my wife, but real world gets in the way of that, a lot of the time.

Not an excuse, just the way it is.

When my first grandson was born, it was almost two years before I could go see him, and we are all in the same country.

We just did not have the money for the trip.

Yes, yes, I've heard this all before. Not so my dad. You couldn't beat him off with a stick. I don't want to embarrass Bruv, I want to urge him that there is no time but the present, tempus fugit & all that. I don't want it to be too late.

Well, yes, you are right.

Given recent events, I must agree.

Aw shucks.............don't remember that one.

Blokes are different to Ladies where off spring are concerned to a large extent.

The Grandson was in Guam for part of his life, now they are back in the US and I have decided that 1913 is my year to visit them, they are not in the position to visit me......and if I don't see them soon...........I may never ever see them again. Not that I am ill or anything, just that time is not on any of our sides.

Also by oscar, "Calling Bruv---Help Needed"! Popular you are!

Don't you have a wife?

Getting old Grandpa? Keep your decision, or help them visit you. Either way, keep this New Year's Resolution to see them. It's important for all involved. :-4:-6

Yes I have a wife, a second wife, only related to my grandchild by marriage, she is behind my journey.

The Grandmother, my ex, is doubtful to ever see her grandchild unless they visit her in the UK or the kids have a whip around to get her out there.

Save up your money all year-I do it every year for a one week trip to see my one and only grandchild. It is always worth it.

How would you know ?

I am going to visit my most recent great grand daughter this evening.

Grand children are the best children.......................you give them back when you are bored.
