A Nice Surprise

This morning, having placed the usual supply of mealworms on the Bluebirds feeder, we were delighted to see not only the two adult birds arriving for breakfast but also 3 baby Bluebirds with them!

The fledglings flew (a little erratically) across the yard but made it safely to the feeder after one or two controlled crashes onto the grass.

They stayed for almost an hour and while the adults watched the fledglings ate and flew back and forth to a nearby tree.

I e-mailed NABS as they like to be aware of new Bluebird arrivals and, judging by the appetite of the youngsters, our supply of mealworms will soon need replenishing!

Congrats, Eagle, you almost sound like a proud `honorary grandfather` there! Are you posting any photos of the little critters onto the Forum?

Good for you. Eagle, I feed the birds too, we have a big bird feeder right outside the kitchen window. Here's a tip, if you put a ledge ouside the wondow, then cover the window with one-sided reflective window tint, the birds can't see in and will fly right up to the window!

Then you can get really close to them as they feed and they'll never even know you are behind the window!;D
