And people complain of biased media.

salon.com is a politically biased propaganda machine cherry picking tidbits of facts to persuade the truly ignorant. Unfortunately, there are people who know how to think.

This far left ideologue lacks any substantial journalism and uses nothing more than hand-selected political hacks, hearsay and deceitful rhetoric to attempt to demonize those that disagree with their world view as opposed to sharing and reporting information. But since it is a political outlet, it should proclaim it's position and ratchet up the spin.

It is an attack dog outlet much the same as the huffington post and move on. Yet another home for wayward socialists and derelicts to express their hate and narrow-mindedness.

Goebbels and Stalin would be proud of this partisan propaganda.

Where then should we get our news in your opinion? I'd love some better sources that are truly honest and have high standards of journalism.

All news media outlets have a political bias.

Simple enough.

Scan the spectrum, and sort out all the editorializing.

What???? When did this happen??

Well, this much is obvious and has not changed through time. The point was the sole purpose as an attack dog and propaganda machine. Some are obvious and cannot be used as a reliable source for anyone seeking truth. Unless they are only seeking validation of their beliefs.

True enough.

Whenever I see some "News Source" shared on a forum, I go look up other reports on the incident and see if there is more to the story.

If I cannot find anything anywhere else, I dismiss it, and move on.

And I agree with you on this particular site.

It seems to be more of a collection of opinions than a reliable "news source"

Not unlike a lot of those other sources people like to quote.

Depends what the opinion is based on. Does the opinion piece offer citations that are credible and can be verified. Salon provides that. It isn't required to agree with the author's opinion, indeed, the idea is to try and disprove it if possible. We've yet to even find out, outside of FOX News, what HW recommends as a news source for either fact based opinion or simple reporting.

Any half-wit can write an op like the one in this thread without offering reasonable analysis for what they write. HW has a habit of doing just that, though. I assume HW doesn't read much from Salon, so a reasonable question might be: unless you do enough reading of Salon, how is it you know how bad the site is? I won't get an answer to that because HW doesn't answer questions, he writes disclaimers instead. Intellectually disingenuous to say the least.

Hmmm...someone's gonna want about 50 links as proof of what you say, your tax returns, dna sample, and complete voting history. At that point, the monkey will likely divert yet again with a red herring so buckle up!

In all seriousness, yes, it is an attack dog outlet much like huff post. They are a dime a dozen and do not generate much credibility beyond the tabloid surfers.

Do you ever check the factual content or just assume it is all simply opinion?

Salon.com I have never heard off, huff post I thought was just as site that collated different writers and opinions. Only occasionally glanced at it. You might find this hard to believe but American politics are generally only interesting so far as they affect international politics or as a look in to what is after all a foreign country with a culture all it's own despite the surface similarities.

I understand where you are coming from.

I am trying to be fair here. Huff Post is not the first place I go to for news, but is run by folk of the liberal bent, and their presentation shows that, with hefty liberal commentary. I only run into Salon where somebody wants to present a leftist commentary.

There are other sites, news sources which claim a more neutral presence of news commentary.

I find it best to stick with main stream media.

Yes, that was the most refreshing thing of all when I lived in the U.K.....to truly discover we were not the center of the universe, that other people had concerns other than us.....to learn of a different focus on the things that are universal & all encompassing. So relaxing compared to the tumult that is us=U.S.

Interesting so you don't equate liberal with leftist or left wing?

Here it's not. Even though the word left is thrown around, there is no real left here & hasn't been for decades.
