can't decide how I view this at all. seems to me europe is getting drawn in to sectarian warfare in africa and the middle east. Saudi arabia and iran fighting proxy war with western armed forces.

Saw this and nearly posted It myself... I'm not sure either.. It's meant to be merely a peace keeping mission but It raises the question of weather we can be drawn Into more AQ attacks here.

I don't think so. We tend to think it's only about the west but it's actually sunni against shia. We're getting involved in a sectarian conflict between saudi arabia and iran because the middle east has all the oil. The first thing islamists do when they get control is attack the rival mosques and holy sites left alone they would go to war on each other.

It's racial as well, in sudan the arabs set about ejecting the black africans regardless of thei religion - OK they wanted their land as well.

When the IRA were carrying out their bomb attacks there were no attacks on catholic churches because it wasn't seen as about religion even if that was partly the cause of it all. If there were numerous terrorists attacks and the UK muslims were perceived as not being condemnatory enough then I think you might start to see more violence aimed at immigrants. In the UK we like to pretend we are liberal and multi-cultural and the same in europe but we are also arguably the most warlike and violent nations on the planet. Add in resentment over the austerity cuts, poor prospects and they are a convenient target for the knuckle draggers in our society. So don't think there will necessarily be more attacks - on one level the west is almost irrelevant on the other we are stirring the pot rather a lot.

India and pakistan is maybe a bit more serious.

Both are nuclear armed and they're firing on each other china is calling for them to calm down and it looks like the pakistan army is trying to take control again. Iran seems almost stable and rational in comparison.

You don't get much about it in the mainstream UK news.
