I'd feel sorry for the kid. One would expect nothing other than perfection in such an undertaking. That the doctor cannot assure anyone.

Actually, there is some thought out there that Neanderthals as a pure breed were more peaceful and sophisticated in some ways than we are. From what I understand, their problem was that they were anatomically incapable of communicating with speech which greatly contributed to their extinction.

Seriously though, what happened to the Cro Magnons? They were said to have a larger brain case than we modern humans have. I do think we are a hybrid of Cro Magnon and Neanderthal peoples.

I also think that Neanderthals were in fact quite intelligent, they may have created the first industrial process. The extraction of pitch from Birch bark with heat, essentially by baking. The pitch was used to glue spear points to the shaft.

That aside the environment they lived in demanded an extremely high level of intelligence and social cohesion.
