1969! I had a great time that year & visited Europe for the first time. Also went to Glastonbury for the first time.

I was there In the crowd getting down and getting groovy.... when the electric violin kicked at the Intro, the crowd went wild. It was a one off reunion never to be repeated so I had to see them.

I never went to any festivals there. I just love the town, the Abbey, the tor. Strange stuff happens there when it's quiet. I too would not like to see crowds & garbage & stuff. I like Wells very much too, I think you mentioned Wells recently. oh heck, I love England. I went in quieter times, when the English still lived there in the majority. LOL.

They still do today and, round Glastonbury you would notice very little difference.

In the inner city areas it can reach, as in Leicester, 50% ethnic minority population if you include Muslim, Hindu, Afro-Carribean, Eastern European, Mediterranean etc. but in almost all rural areas it is well over 90% white British. Don't let the scare stories put you off.

Actually Byrn Is correct... It's the large towns and cities that have British In the minority, much of this Is due to Eastern Europeans.

Well, that doesn't scare me, it's just that where I live contains that population, so why should I spend so much just to be with the same folks I left at home?

I used to be so good at English regional accents I was able to guess where people were from within a few miles. Had you folks sussed out I did! Really, the problem would be in getting me to go back home. And whether you like Glastonbury or not, you WILL be climbing that tor with me! Just watch out for haunted, possessed dogs & cows. If you land In the UK, you will be very welcome at my humble abode. These days, I'm more Inclined to take guests to the races at Newbury, Bath or even Ascot... then a drive through The Cotswolds, a rummage around some cheeky little antique shops and some afternoon tea In Gloucester.

I love Bath! I love Gloucester! I love afternoon teas in England! Do you ever get over to Oxford? I've never been to Cambridge. Except outside Boston.

I am extremely spoiled where I live. Bath Is half an hours drive from here and Gloucester about 45 minutes. Also the Cotswolds, Forest Of Dean, The Mendips are all within easy reach.

I love Bath especially the Antiques shops and tea rooms but can be very expensive.... They also do river trips that Peter and I enjoy...

I don't know if you live in Somerset or just outside, but really, that is my favorite part of England. I consider you blessed.

When you went to Bath Anne, did you perchance see the Teddy Bear shop ? sells nothing but bears. I paid a kings ransom in there for a musical Steiff. One of my favourite shops.

I haven't been to Bath in about 35 years, so no!

The only competition for Oxford is Cambridge, they would not compare themselves to anyone else, but you say you did not visit during your stay.

Yes, you are bringing back memories Bryn. No, did not go to Cambridge. But Cambridge came to me. While waiting to see the movie Close Encounters of the Third Kind I turned around & noticed a man in a wheelchair with beautiful eyes amongst some students. I was so taken with his expression it was hard to keep my eyes off him, which I did as I did not want to appear rude. Yes, I did later find out it was Stephen Hawking on a lark in Oxford. Had heard of him, but did not know yet the extent of his genius.
