Well I guess when you paint yourself into a corner and you don't have the guts to take someone on face to face, you just delete their comments and pretend it didn't happen.

I have just read thru the Forum Garden TOU and am at a loss to understand what is happening here ... Kinda like a witch hunt maybe ...

Nice work FG.

I could see if I took offense to one of your posts, asked you to remove or edit it and you got hostile. But it was Theia's request you got into a snit about and still continue to whine over. Think about it. THEIA. She's one of the nicest, most polite people on here and you could (and should) have reasonably considered her feelings and modified your own post instead of acting like a spoiled brat about it until admin had to step in.

Seriously, why did you feel the need to bring it up again in Hope's "hello" thread?

I do many things Sleepy One, but unlike several others here I never whine. What I choose to post on Hope's thread is none of your business so keep your snide remarks to yourself.

What makes Snooze's question snide?

And... how doesn't that make your comments that were in Hope's thread 'snide' ?

Why are you banging your head, several times? Its not good for you you know.

The question was a good one, it seems to me that if people don't agree with you, or don't fall into line with your alpha male stance, you find ways to go against the grain around them. You did it to Theia by telling her to get a life, you've done it to Snooze right here.

I know you feel people are intolerant of you, maybe you should look at the fact that you seem to be intolerant of most people here, including me!

Is censorship the answer? Shouldn't chips fall where they may? If JJ 'insults' someone, doesn't that reflect on JJ & not the object? I'm asking because I really don't understand, not to cause a problem.

Perhaps its because I believe very strongly in free speech Betty.

The question from Snooze may have been a good one, but the language in which it was couched showed much more intolerance than I am guilty of here. As for my "alpha male stance", I am one of the staunchest advocates for women's rights on FG.

Theia's RIP thread whilst admirable, was for an actor who was probably unknown outside of his homeland & my comment in no way belittled him or her. The day's of wearing a black armband for a month after a death are long past. We are living in 2013 and not 1943.

It only appears that I am intolerant of you Betty because you always seem to be in the vanguard of disputes involving the Chosen One.

For the record JJ. It was me the unchosen one who reported your post. Oui moi, mon petit pommes de terre frites.

I reported your post In Hope's thread and asked for It to be removed because It Indicated you having an opportunity to complain about having your posts removed from Theia's thread and continuing the argument there. That I felt was unfair on Hope and ruined the thread which was full of nice welcome back posts.

Well Oscar, that's rich coming from you considering that you are probably the only member of FG with a worse reputation than my own!

As for my post on Rhonda's thread, it was for her benefit and not an argument at all. She and I come a long way together and if you ask her it will be unlikely that she'd agree with you about me ruining her post.

In any event, it is your democratic right to ask the Mods to delete or consign posts "to the compost pile." The decision to do so, after due discussion in the "Green Room," is no doubt theirs alone.

I trust you will react the same way when the shoe is on the other foot and a post/s of yours suffers the same fate.

For the record, oscar, I feel you overstepped your bounds & the one who actually removed the comments was wrong to do so. JMHO. This whole situation makes it appear to those who are Not Paid Members that they are unimportant & insignificant.

While I would not care if anything of mine were deleted, & I am not sensitive to these things, there are people who are overly sensitive & feel others must respect their wishes or be deleted.

Smacks of censorship. Hope you can understand my POV.

Reporting a post doesn't automatically mean the post will be censored. There's usually some kind of discussion about it and then Bryn makes the final decision if the problem looks severe enough.

In my humble opinion, the first problem post of JJ's could have been handled in a more polite manner between members without the need to involve management. The second post of JJ's in Hope's thread was petty but not really bad enough to report... I would have left that up to Hope since it was her thread... but I can understand why Oscar wanted to keep the thread on target and pleasant. I'm usually too lazy to bother reporting posts.

The discussion amongst paid members only is my point. Why bother having a general board at all? And why should such little things be up for discussion in the first place? Hidden people deciding what appears in the open. It's a cabal.

I trust you will react the same way when the shoe is on the other foot and a post/s of yours suffers the same fate. You don't have exclusitivity to members JJ... whilst you may be friends with members, so are others friends. We have to get beyond the 'friends' to stop some threads becoming battle grounds for old Issue's and I believed your post to Hope was about old Issue's that could have made a mockery of her thread.

I don't have any authority In the green room any more than anyone else does. When a post Is reported, It Is not without discussion by the moderators. No-one can just say they want a post removed and It's done. Reporting a post very often Is not some tactic to have a member dealt with but a way of discussing what Is for the best. What-ever, the ultimate action Is not down to me or anyone else who reports posts.

Don't get nasty with me JJ because I happened to feel that Hope's welcome back thread could have turned Into another debate on the Richard Briars thread. For the record also, In the reported post thread, BB accused me of attacking her.

I just don't think a welcome back thread Is the place to reiterate past grievances. I didn't think that was fair on Hope.

Further for the record JJ... I have defended your corner also when I have felt there has been unfairness.

It used to be mods only in an unaccessable area of the forum and their decisions were final and their reasoning unexplained. This is a little more democratic.

".......your post to Hope was about old Issue's that could have made a mockery of her thread."

Why couldn't Hope decide what was a mockery to her thread? To be honest, I don't feel she had the right to do so, just as Paid Members should not have the right to do so.

I am speaking objectively because I honestly don't connect to sensitivity over a....a....a MESSAGE BOARD!!!!!!!!!

More attention is brought to a thread when this kind of thing happens. Wouldn't things just hang & die if no one responded? Isn't the onus then put on the so-called 'offender'? instead of the habitants of the Green Room?

I can go into a whole long explanation of why I did what I did but JJ won't like it. I have no idea of the true status of JJ and Hope's friendship. I do know what JJ has told me and I'm happy to stick with that until I hear different.

Trouble is, too much has happened around here for certain points to just be left alone, I had good reason to believe that someone could have been really offended and I took action. If all is well then I will leave anything in the future alone, there is too much history here for any of the moderators to just sit back and ignore it.

FG started open moderation some time back, it came after accusations of mod rule, favouritism etc. Being able to take part in the reported posts threads is a perk of being a green member.

Ideally everyone would self moderate, so therefore if they did upset people they would apologise and admit they didn't realise something would offend. That happened for a while, then it appeared to stop. No idea why.

Seems to me no one will ever be happy with the moderation of any site, you quite simply can't please all of the people all of the time.

Maybe we ought to return to closed moderation? Maybe we shouldn't? Any ideas anyone?

I agree with Snooze.

Closed moderation has led to some pretty vile posts personally attacking members In the past knowing they will never see them. I'm not naming names and It's In the past but I have seen those posts.

To enter the green room and be part of debate and see what Is being said about your post Is a small cost.... If people love this forum as much as they profess, then why not spend a small amount of money and support Bryn and the site ?

The green room works fine...

How? If you've never been a mod? Assume you mean you've seen behind the scenes mod threads, which in turn makes me wonder who was the untrustworthy mod that copied and pasted such things!

I prefer the green room as it seems to be known now. Even if you and I go head to head on a regular basis. :wah:

Probably the same way I saw some about me... I was getting anonymous emails with screen grabs where you all were discussing me or who you thought was me and spot listed all the IP addresses I might use, including the one from work. And much worse than that as well. I couldn't do anything about it since I was banned at the time but it was pretty damn irritating. I think it was from a 'hushmail' account if I remember correctly.

This thread has covered everything from attacks to acusations, censororship, improper behavior, personal interests and a touch of humor and let us not forget the democratic GREEN ROOM :wah:

Poor Hope will be wondering what she has walked into.

I am sorta wondering what I have walked into! LOL Anyway, I am of 2 minds about this. It being my thread I kinda would like to see everything that is put in it and make the decision for myself about something being deleted but, having been a moderater once upon a time before my lack of time became a problem, I understand the need for deleting posts as well. As for JJ, we have known each other for 5 years now, I consider him a good friend. I just wish everybody could just calm down and mellow out and get along with each other. :)
