This house has been unoccupied for a very long time. It was a liability. I knew it was it was going to get the torch, just didn't know when. I happened by, saw the flames, went home for the camera.

Just thought to share what I caught.

You may have to run your curser over the photo to get the slide show going.

I particularly like the close-up photos of the windows showing the flames within. How long does something like that take to burn to the ground? Even though it's a controlled burn, it's still kind of scary looking.

Great photos! Especially of the one wall caving in.

You said "I knew it was it was going to get the torch" does that mean it was set on fire on purpose as Tabby lead to? Hopefully by the local fire department.

I am glad I didn't have to get to close to take the pictures of the fire through the windows cause it was just plain hot. There were still some glass somewhere in the house I could hear breaking from the heat. We don't have a full time fire department, but a volunteer fireman was there at the start. We do have fire fire trucks which happen to be garaged just across the street.

I didn't picture it, but there is a shed, maybe fifty feet behind the house where the owner was busy spraying water on. That shed will also be destroyed, not by fire as it had potential to spread fire. You see a tree trunk with steam coming off where it was being sprayed.

Over all not much risk as you may notice snow on the ground and the outside temp was like 30 degrees F, -1C and barely a breeze.

Total time from match to pile of ash, just short of 2 hours.

It was planned and approved by the city. Small town, not much formality.

There are a number of houses here that could use the same treatment. Due to a number of factors the population in here has been declining since the 1930's.
