Sir Peter O'Sullevan: Former BBC racing commentator Is In hospital following a mild stroke.

I wish the 95 year old a speedy recovery....

As hero's go this man has been right up there for me for decades...The man Is a legend... I know of no commentator that has matched his Inimitable style of building the excitement..

For anyone thinking that commentating on a horse race Is a piece of cake, try calling the first hurdle as 40 horses thunder over the first fence In the Grand National....

For me, It's not just his career In commentating but the tireless work even up to present day for animal welfare...His charities revolve around the protection of farm animals and horses and The International League for the Protection of Horses (ILPH), the Thoroughbred Rehabilitation Centre and Compassion in World Farming.

In 2008 The National Hunt Challenge Chase Cup (ran at the Cheltenham Festival) was named for him In honour of his 90 th birthday.

In 2010 Aintree named him as one of 8 Inaugural "Grand National Legends" and his name Is on a commemorative plaque at the course.
