Great minks, I don`t know if this is actuallly a joke or not but it sounds really good! i do know that here in the UK for example pensioners can go to a hotel in Spain or similar for 3 months in the winter for cheaper than it costs them to stay here (because cost of food and heating and warm clothing and electricity etc would exceed cost of `package` deal which includes flights and food and hotel stay).. Amazing!

Great idea minks, I've heard others say similar feelings. I think if given the choice of continually cruising, or continually staring at the same 4 walls in a nursing home the cruising would win out for me!!! :-2

After my Mom's last visit I found she had boxed up all of my daughters things from her drawers (boxed neatly under my daughters bed) and replaced them with her own. Maybe I should send this to her as a hint - just to counter her own hint.

I was a bit surprised minks. I also called my brothers (4 of them) and told them I had already cared for her for 5 years after she divorced my stepdad. It is now their turn. :wah:

PS - my SO and I are planning on retiring in a few years and moving far far away!!!

I am currently watching the BF go through this kind of thing with his mother and I pray my parents just go cruising ahahaha actually I already told my brother they are his responsibility since he didn't have children ahahahaha

This is cute...but I have to wonder...? Who will change all of your diapers?!! And spoon the mush into your mouth afer your teeth have fallen out? LOL And will they be as delighted to change your sheets when you have wet the bed on them??!!! LOL Oh...and the towels...I won't even go there...!!!!! LOL HA!!!!

On a more serious note, there is a nursing home here in my hometown that actually does strive to make every occupant feel special and like royalty! Although it is pricey, the place is unbelievable!! My grandmother was able to stay there until she passed away. The place never smelled bad and when you walked in the front door you felt like you were in a hotel, not a nursing home. They had a beautiful fireplace in the dining room and always had a piano player playing requests.....the nurses were wonderful--nobody complaining about their job and taking great pride in their work. Three times a day, a special snack cart strolled the halls stopping at rooms delivering icecream, cookies, magazines, books...ect.. My grandmother loved the chocolate shakes! The owners actually lived right on the property and were raising their young children there, so the old people loved to sit outside and watch the little ones riding their trikes or just talking with them! I remember one special lady that was losing her mind and every day would get up/dressed in her finest...heels, purse, handbag & scarf....and just walk the place talking to people. I am pretty sure she thought she was at a wedding reception of some sort...She would always ask.."Do you know when they are serving the food and should we go on down now??" She was cute! Overall, I guess none of us want to wind up in a nursing home, but if it had to be, I guess that would be the place for me!!

Where is this place and can I get a reservation for my Mom and her twin? Seriously - it's nice to hear of a place like that instead of all the nursing home horror stories.

Keyword is "PRICEY"! They had better make their boarders feel special, or people will find another "pricey" place. It's not that hard when it's a pricey place. We have found it mostly harder when you are trying to find a good "reasonably" priced place!
