Channel 4's head of factual programming, Ralph Lee, has strongly defended the decision to broadcast the Islamic call to prayer (adhan) throughout Ramadan.

Lee said: "No doubt Channel 4 will be criticised for focusing attention on a 'minority' religion but that’s what we’re here to do – provide space for the alternative and a voice to the under-represented.

Don't know what I think of this.........

Crap. Better send an ambulance to gmc's house. He's sure to have a stroke over this.

A real clash of cultures is what I see. Potentially violent in the future considering religion is involved. A scary thing to think about.

It is Oscar that will have a stroke, I am sure gmc will see it in his own unique and sensible way.

Channel 4 is a ground breaking broadcaster, they have an alternative Queens Christmas speech. We only hear from our monarch at Christmas when she wishes us all well and gives her view point on the past year.

The whole concept behind the channel was to provide an alternative to the BBC and Independent Television, I rate it second only to the BBC in it's out put.

Actually, I couldn't give a flying feck.

Walk through any city and you'll hear Mosque's calling Muslims to prayer.

The difference with a TV channel Is that we have an option as to wether we want to hear It or not. It's no different to some of the god squad channels on Sunday mornings.

It's a calling to prayer. It's not a calling to Jihadists to seek death to the British.

Don't know what american TV's are like but British ones have an off button and apart from that there are some 199 other channels to watch so why would it bother me? I can never understand people who watch programmes that offend them - do they lack the willpower to turn it off or change channel? I don't object to religious per se programming so long as it is not obligatory to watch it.

If you want a combination horror and fantasy TV channel watch this.

GOD TV | Global Christian Broadcasting

It depresses me that so many people believe this nonsense, if they get the chance history shows us they will try and make all dance to their tune. Christian, muslim --- they all have the same potential for misery.

In this case I am more concerned with the Muslims. Over the centuries the western world has not exactly treated them with much respect and decency. Because of this and the human penchant for vengeance I do not think that in the long run things will go well.

I'm in agreement. 110%
