A Shower of Gold.

According to the Harvard-Smithsonian Centre for Astrophysics, all the gold on earth might have come from cosmic head on crashes between seriously dense stars billions of years ago that showered the metal down upon earth.
A new study suggests that when two neutron stars collide, the very small and very compact cores of these stars could have catalysed the creation of the precious metal.
Edo Berger of the CfA said that the amount of gold produced during the joining of two neutron stars might have been as much as ten times the mass of the moon.
It seems that these neutron star on star collisions did not occur very often which means that gold is rare on earth because its rare in the universe.
So when you wear gold you have a piece of the universe around your neck or wrist.
Go on, give your gold chain or bracelet a hug ... its travelled a long, long way through space to get to you.
