Only one in 10 Britons has best friend of different race
Most of the population only seldomly come into direct contact with ethnics.
They are only about 10% of the population after all.
So why the need to point out this bit of 'News?'
It should have been obvious....

It's not news.
Typical commentary presented as news.

I don't see the article about that but about the fact that we are heading toward a country bordering on segregation In some parts.
Craig Morley, the organisation’s chief executive and co-founder , said: “As UK communities become increasingly diverse, there is a very real danger they actually become more segregated. We need policies that actively promote integration, rather than foster segregation and ultimately lead to greater social isolation.
But, the question Is, how do you promote Integration ?

I just think the headline is twisted, myself.
One in ten has a best friend and how many friends? I think that's pretty nice.
It will be even nicer when folks quit being bothered to count

It should have been obvious....

"Balkanization" - The process of ethic subgroups isolating themselves within a country and unable or unwilling to assimilate. This usually includes a separation of language. Since this group cannot communicate with the larger native groups, the situation breeds distrust and fear. The eventual result is war and genocide.
(See: Bosnia / Serbia and the Yugoslavian Wars)

As for the best friend bit....what planet are they on ?
Best friends don't become best friends overnight. In the main, they will be people you have been to school with, grew up with, played sports with, worked with etc etc
A friend becomes a best friend when you have much In common,, shared Interests etc etc.... so no, you don't make the nearest Immigrant your bessy.
My husbands best mate Is Turkish but that's after many many years of living next door to them.
It should have been obvious....

I've had best friends, several of them.
Situations change.
As I grew up made my first best friend at age 12.
Situations change, like distance, getting older and priorities.
Thing is of my best friends I haven't seen in years I am confident if we were to meet would still be friends.
It should have been obvious....

Cool.
When he eats at a resturant, does he have to make a reservation ?
