Yuk, the flu!

As all aspects of my health have not been great this year, everything was going great the last month or 2. Busy busy and all that.
Saterday my voice had deceased to function properly, which is always bad when you need your voice to work (customer services), and I knew the flu was coming.. Monday my hours were back to normal and I wasn't on the sick anymore! but I knew it was coming, and YEP, yesterday the flu hit me hard, and i've had to stay home.
I am disappointed that i've caught the flu just at that time when my hours were just back to normal. But like my supervisor said: the flu is going round, nothing you can do about that and it has nothing to do with the previous illness..
But YUK and i mean YUK, I haven't slept for 3 days and I feel like an asthmatic fish attempting to climb mount everest.
And as I am typing and my eyeballs are hanging somewhere down there on the keyboard, the cat has just been sick.. I'll have to peel myself of the sofa and go clean..
Any tips or wonder meds on beating the flu just that bit quicker?

Bummer, Chloe, sorry to hear you're ill! I don't know any magic cure for colds or flu and usually just ride it out with chicken soup, fluids, sleep, whining and complaining.
Earlier this year I ran across this article and was intrigued by their recommendation & recipe for "Influenza Sorbet" ~~~~~> Can Influenza Sorbet Relieve Your Flu Symptoms? | TIME.com
Thankfully, I haven't had the need or opportunity to make a batch since reading the article but I'd love to know if it in fact helps reduce any symptoms. I need a guinea pig!
I hope you feel much better soon!

I try to stock up on over-the-counter cough syrup since I get the YUK really bad in my lungs and I need help getting it out. Drink lots of fluids and rest rest rest. I got a flu shot early this year, I read that the flu season was starting early and you're living proof of that. Feel better soon.

Chloe I sympathise...
My husband Is In bed as we speak.
We have both had It over the past two weeks and we're both now left with a hacking cough that has kept us awake for three nights solid. My ribs hurt like hell and the pain when I cough Is almost unbearable...
Remedies... A work colleague from Pakistan presented me with some sachets a few days ago that looked like the contents of the bottom os a birdcage but I was told to chew the seeds and then spit the pips out. I could taste Aniseed, Cardimon etc but It really helped. Then he got me something similar you made a tea out of which really cleared the tubes. I have no Idea what It Is or where to buy It but It worked.

Jee... I hope you feel better very soon.. I know how you feel with the cough thing.. i coughed so hard, I heard my back make and awfull noise and ever since its been killing me. Glad i'm not old(er) yet or I would have pissed myself as well. Wonder what the wonder meds were that he'd given you though.. Nothing seems to be shifting this flu for me just yet, it's only the 2nd day for me yet but i'm tired of it already.. I hate not being able to sleep
again, i hope both of you feel better soon and that nasty cough clears..

I did actually cough so hard last night that I passed wind.
We're putting Olbas Oil on the pillow at night which helps keep the tubes clear while you sleep. Make sure your bedroom windows are open to get a through air to ventilate and circulate. I also found a cold flannel which I keep In the fridge on my forehead at night helps also.
Green tea Is a fantastic anti-oxidant so drink as much as you can and also try steam Inhalations where you put your head under a towel over a bowl of hot water with a few drops of Olbas oil In It to help loosen the phelgm on your chest.
Hope you feel better soon X

I thought I was feeling better today.. or well enough to do some bits of shopping.
Now... I feel worse...
Every time I move I sweat profusely.. And I'm force feeding myself as I know I should eat but I do not feel hungry at all.
My OH says I should stay at home from work at least another day.. And I know I probably should but I am getting soo bored and tired of myself not being able to do anything..
Complaing does make you feel better :wah: And as I am complaining I've just coughed so hard, I think my eyeballs have popped!
Ohh my.... Oscar? Did you mention this coughing thing goes on for about 2 weeks?
