Apparently this song is racist? What a load of effing crap!!!!

this song that pretty much disses on all the rich celebrity brat singers has made it to number one in the states ...and an influential blogger isn't happy about it.

Apparently the song is racist, apparently this song is directed toward hip hop music. Which apparently means it's against black people.

these are the lyrics.

I've never seen a diamond in the flesh

I cut my teeth on wedding rings in the movies

And I'm not proud of my address,

In a torn-up town, no post code envy

But every song's like gold teeth, grey goose, trippin' in the bathroom

Blood stains, ball gowns, trashin' the hotel room,

We don't care, we're driving Cadillacs in our dreams.

But everybody's like Crystal, Maybach, diamonds on your time piece.

Jet planes, islands, tigers on a gold leash.

We don't care, we aren't caught up in your love affair.

And we'll never be royals (royals).

It don't run in our blood,

That kind of luxe just ain't for us.

We crave a different kind of buzz.

Let me be your ruler (ruler),

You can call me queen Bee

And baby I'll rule, I'll rule, I'll rule, I'll rule.

Let me live that fantasy.

[Verse 2]

My friends and I – we've cracked the code.

We count our dollars on the train to the party.

And everyone who knows us knows that we're fine with this,

We didn't come for money.

But every song's like gold teeth, grey goose, trippin' in the bathroom.

Blood stains, ball gowns, trashin' the hotel room,

We don't care, we're driving Cadillacs in our dreams.

But everybody's like Crystal, Maybach, diamonds on your time piece.

Jet planes, islands, tigers on a gold leash

We don't care, we aren't caught up in your love affair

And we'll never be royals (royals).

It don't run in our blood

That kind of luxe just ain't for us.

We crave a different kind of buzz.

Let me be your ruler (ruler),

You can call me queen Bee

And baby I'll rule, I'll rule, I'll rule, I'll rule.

Let me live that fantasy.

Ooh ooh oh

We're bigger than we ever dreamed,

And I'm in love with being queen.

Ooh ooh oh

Life is great without a care

We aren't caught up in your love affair.

And we'll never be royals (royals).

It don't run in our blood

That kind of luxe just ain't for us.

We crave a different kind of buzz

Let me be your ruler (ruler),

You can call me queen Bee

And baby I'll rule, I'll rule, I'll rule, I'll rule.

Let me live that fantasy.

Another song of hers called team has the lyrics "I'm kind of over gettin' told to throw my hands up in the air.

So there

Now if people are so upset about these lyrics then why did they buy her album to make her number one?

Could it be that Americans doing it hard right now are sick to death of seeing celebrity brats flaunting their wealth and butts in their faces? With a "I'm so much better than you" attitude................. I think the music industry should sit up and take note, not criticise this young girl because she gets huge amounts of guster when she plays here among the normal people. And it's about bloody time too.

That was very interesting video. I can see nothing that would give me cause to take a side, one way or another.

I certainly am unaware of any uproar it has caused over here in the States.

I found it quite refreshing, actually.

Add on:

So I had a few minutes to look up this "Influential Blogger" who seems to have taken exception to this, and all I can say is that said blogger probably does not speak for Americans in general, nor even for the rappers and Hip-hop artists she feels have been offended.

I really wouldn't lose much sleep over whatever she had to say.

I just watched a couple of interviews with this girl and read comments on her. She maybe going places . I just listened to her EP I'm going out to buy it. bloody good stuff. In one interview she says she loves hip hop and incorporates it into her music. but she did state hip hop "was a mess" and she didn't like how it puts down and berates females.

Good song. Didn't notice any racism.
