I think that perhaps the reason why online chatting is so popular is because there are so many people in the world who are terribly lonely or unhappy because they have no relationship with their spouse, their parents or family or in fact with any other earthling. Bottom line ... they are not loved.
When you read of young girls & boys texting/sending images of themselves in a state of undress and often completely naked, to online "friends", it begs the question ... why? Why would you send an image of your naked bod to a complete stranger? And it seems as if it isn't too difficult to elicit such a response.
Is it because when you are chatting to a person online they perhaps make you feel wanted, special and above all loved? All of us crave love ... we want to love and be loved.
So isn't online attention aka love, albeit from a total stranger who may or may not be what they say they are, better than no love at all?
I wonder ...
