I ask this because a couple of years ago I was determined after the "mines experience" that I would obtain as many tickets and lisences as I could.
have you ever done something or planned something that if someone had of suggested same 20 years prior you would have laughed at them or called them daft?
this is what I went for in 2012.......

and you all know about my trip north in 2013......
Not sure what I'll be up to this year...still thinking.
It will be good though .
So what adventures do you people have planned?

Is that you in that picture, Fuzz? Gave me the shivers, I know someone who could almost be your twin. Weird. You look like a nice person. If that's not you, she looks like a nice person. Of course, looks Can be deceiving!
My adventures will be preparing for my son's wedding, don't even know when it is yet. I seriously (I hope) want the usual things of being healthy, feeling healthy, having peace of mind (I meditate) & getting a great mother of the groom dress with shoes that won't kill me. Oh! I also would love to stop, or seriously curtail, my habits that are not good for me. I'd like to go into the City (Manhattan) way more than I do. I'd like to clean up my apartment, it is truly overloaded. Oh NO! Now I'm Overwhelmed!

I expect to do a lot of wandrin. I'm hoping the weather will cooperate so I can wander farther northward. There is much of Canada that I have not yet explored.

- Concentrate on getting my health back in order, hopefully the GP will help me this time round.
- We're thinking of MAYBE adopting another cat in 2014. MAYBE!

In the Tobacco fields?
If I never set foot in another Tobacco field, it will be too soon.
The one thing I hated about summers at Grampa's was working his Tobacco field.

Well, I just spent 6 fun-filled weeks in Florida and am now doing some work on my house.
In Oct. I'll be spending time in the Catskills Mountains in NY with my family from Buffalo, NY, and next year plan to visit Florida again and also Ireland if everything works out for me.

That's nice.
I guess what Grampa had was not what you'd call a plantation. He had 40 acres, but only grew Tobacco on 10. I think it was as much a hobby with him.
When I was little I got to weed the field. When I got tall enough, I learned how to top the plants, and later, I even learned to cut and hang the plants.
Grampa always did the sorting, with Chester, his hand, but I learned how to tie the hands and pack the palates. He even took me to the auction with him a couple of times.
By the time I started high school, I was sure that I could come back to the farm if I needed to , but that agriculture was not really my cup of tea.
I do get a warm feeling inside when driving by a field of Tobacco. It's a pretty sight in the summer sun.

Lars we do it completely different now. We don't cut the whole plant anymore, we pull off a few leaves at a time. We through it into the barn by the armful in something called racks. It's a lot easier than it used to be and a lot faster.

This is a picture of the green tobacco going into the barn in the racks and the second picture is what it looks like when it comes out. That thing that my little boy is standing in front of is called a packer. We just throw it in there by the armful until there's enough to make a pile of the right weight.
