Last Night of the Proms.

My on-going research for my new novel which is set in England, is leading me down some delightful paths.
Like last night for instance. I decided to watch a re-run of the “Last night of the Proms” at The Royal Albert Hall which was screened on BBC TV.
The BBC Symphony Orchestra was conducted by Marin Alsop who is I believe the first lady to ever conduct this orchestra. In my opinion she did a fine job too.
Mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato was superb as were the BBC Symphony Chorus.
But what I found surprising and most enjoyable was the participation of the vast crowd in Hyde Park I think it was and at the Titanic Shipyard in Ireland, who watched the concert on a big screen.
They waved flags and sang along enthusiastically especially to “You’ll Never Walk Alone”, “Rule Britannia and “Land of Hope and Glory.”
An absolutely awesome experience which I must one day experience live!
