Hi my friend lives in Canburra and I would like to send her a gift. I have an account with Amazon UK. I would like to know if I can get her gift through Amazon Australia if they have one?
Else I would have to get it on the UK site and send it in. Many thanks and hope you can help me.

You'll have to register a new account on Amazon Australia. After that you'll be able to buy there with your UK credit or debit card. The card will convert your money to Australian Dollars automatically.

Aura, the page quoted in the previous message is utterly obsolete. There is an Amazon Australia, I have an account there and I've used it. I have a phone number on the Sydney exchange and an Australian bank account too. I know what I'm talking about. "There is no Amazon Australia so if you want to ship something from Amazon to Australia you will need to use the Amazon UK store or the Amazon USA store" is untrue, "if you are willing to pay international shipping cost,, well you can actually try amazon.uk" is misleading. "There will be an Amazon Australia soon according to the newspapers but for now there is not" is wrong.
I suggest you rely on my first post, which is based on my own experience.

I've used UK Amazon to send gifts and it ended up being cheaper due to shipping charges... and some American vendors won't ship overseas. So yes, you can definitely use any country's amazon but as FG said, you need to register for that country's site.

It would depend on what you wanted to buy, I'd have thought. You've used Amazon Australia? It's stock range is still a bit specialized. It's a perfectly good place from which to get a gift for local delivery though.

Domestic postal charges in Australia are over the top. Will have to sell a house to buy a stamp soon. It's actually cheaper for me to buy from India than locally.
