Do you mean it can't be less 50% sugar than orange pure juice unless they actually remove some sugar?

Well, there are some OJs out there, like Tropicana that have sugar added to make sure they are sweet tasting.

I never drink those, myself.

In fact, I always get my Orange juice from the original container.

Totally agree... I have a juicer....well worth the effort.

Well, there is some actual orange juice in it. probably 48-50% by volume.

So, I'm getting that they add the Stevia to sweeten the water they use to thin out the Orange Juice.

I tried a couple of Stevia sweetened beverages and foods.

I am NOT impressed.

The more I think about it, the more I wonder, Who the hell would want to buy and drink this stuff.

So let's say for example you buy a pint of this at £2.... You can buy a pint of unsweetened concentrated juice for £1.... add 50% water and you have doubled your drink volume to 2 pints for half the price.... So to me, they are hoodwinking people by getting them to believe that because of the added water, that makes It reduced sugar.

We get that as well, I never understand why people buy it rather than "proper" orange juice which is cheaper and you can dilute it to taste.

The other one that amuses me is the one for (microwaveable in a pot) porridge that has half the fat of other brands. There is actually no fat in porridge in the first place they add it and sugar to those little pots to make them palatable. You can microwave the stiff anyway so why not just but the oats and make your own.

Talking of porridge, my mum had a 'double' saucepan in which she put water in the outer saucepan and real porridge oats etc. into the inner, sat it on her kitchen Rayburn range cooker (solid fuel fired) over night. In the morning it was the most delicious breakfast imaginable, with a pinch of salt, a scattering of sugar, or maybe some Golden Syrup, and some milk........................wonderful start to any day, particularly a school day ! It was even delicious by itself with just a drop of milk poured into the bowl.

Yeah, I really never had a big problem with concentrate, myself, though I prefer just eating an actual orange (which I am doing as I write this. Nom)

During the off-season, a concentrate will do me just fine. This product seems like some sort of bastardization. I cannot imagine why I would EVER buy it.

I still see it in the stores over here. Can't recall ever trying it, myself. Its second ingredient is High Fructose Corn Syrup. An immediate turn-off, for me.

I agree with gmc about the porridge being advertised as low fat... another con.

Dasani is not just any water.

It is the water that was used to clean the vats where they make coke products. THEN it is filtered and bottled and sold for a lot of money.

Tropicana doesn't add sugar to it's regular OJ.

They do have one or two lines of products to which they add no sugar.

They mostly offer "From Concentrate" products, and of those, most also contain sugar. I was just at the grocer the other day picking out so OJ for my wife, who is dealing with the Flu. Amazing the variety of OJ products. I ended up buying a couple dozen Navels, and squeezing and filtering them, myself.

Very tasty.

Though I saved some for my own munching. (she doesn't like the pulp. I do)

I get the Tropicana's labeled "Never From Concentrate". I guess the punches, etc. are. I only pay attention to All Natural.
